Join us as we celebrate with a teach-in that will give you the facts on the emancipation movement in the District of Columbia, the slave rebellions, the District Emancipation Celebration. Find out what DC Emancipation means to our modern day struggle for freedom, equality and full democracy here in the nation’s capital and around the world.

 
Panelists include: 

  • Dr. C.R. Gibbs, noted historian and lecturer on African American Studies
  • Acie Byrd, Jr., political scientist and DC statehood activist
  • David Etheridge, board member of the AFSC.
